April 2008 - Certified Aviation Services successfully completes OPV Landing

CAS has teamed with government agencies and major corporations to modify commercially built aircraft (such as the Cessna Caravan) so that the aircraft can accomplish specific aerial missions with or without a human pilot onboard (Optionally Piloted Vehicle). Modifications to the caravan will allow the aircraft to function as an OPV but also operate sophisticated payloads by remote control. Some of the maneuvers engineered for the Caravan OPV include:

• Take Off
• Climb to and level off at specified altitudes
• Fly to up to 30 pre-programmable waypoints
• Fly "Turn About A Pylon" over any designated waypoint
• Descend to specific altitudes
• Fly to initial approach fix
• Auto-land with a crosswind component up to 15 knots

With several patents pending and ongoing future development on the project, CAS is a leader on this and other great engineering breakthroughs in the government aviation field.

May 2008 - Certified Aviation Services partnered with Orbital for a successful satellite launch.

This project entailed not only the detailed maintenance inspection and updating of Orbital's 25+ year old L-1011 aircraft, but also mounting the rocket device for a successful flight and launch. 

The timeline for this project was very crucial as there is a limited window of opportunity available for a rocket launch. Certified Aviation Services worked within these tight time limitations on the very detailed engineering and maintenance components of both the launch aircraft and rocket mounting. Two of our service technicians were dispatched to the launch site as well to ensure no maintenance issues occured that would jeopardize the timeline. Certified Aviation Services also worked with Orbital to maintain all the paperwork on the L-1011 Launch Aircraft for de-Certification and Certification status surrounding the launch proceedings as mandated by the government.
